The successful reform of Kauppalehti Optio
What?
Kauppalehti Optio is the largest financial magazine in the Nordic countries, published every two weeks as a pullout in the Kauppalehti newspaper. The magazine has 250,000 readers.
Why?
In the reform, the basis of the magazine's content - the economy, people around it and working life issues - and the attraction of a good story and quality pictures remained the same while the appearance of the magazine was reconsidered and focal points of the content further specified.
How?
The reform began with the content of the magazine. The basic reform plan consisted of five colours representing the various subject areas discussed in the magazine, relating to good working life and leisure time. The number of stories was increased, and more variety was included. When designing the appearance of the magazine, rhythm, contrast and the sense of air and light were the objectives. The result is a praised and stylish glossy magazine with an international look underlined by quality printing.
